Day 30 - Beautiful Beaches

There sure is a huge advantage in having a local as a personal guide. I've had another great day with blue sky and sunshine and a wonderful personalized tour of the local sights. A huge thanks must go to Ian for his huge generosity over these days.

We headed off this morning down the coast stopping at a number of beaches on the way down to Byron Beach.

I was really surprised how many surfies were out and couldn't help wondering what they all did for a living.

Point Danger above ..... Major surf and rocks....

Went for a lovely walk along the beach at coolangata after brunch and also had a stop at "Point Danger" where there were a number of crazy surfers and boogie borders catching some pretty large waves that broke a little close to the rocks in my opinion.

Once we arrived at Byron Bay we headed up to the lighthouse where it proceeded to rain a little and we were surprised by the fact it was going to cost $7 to park the car to get out and take a couple of pictures.

This pic was taken from the car as we refused to pay $7 for a carpark for 5 minutes. :)

To be honest I was underwhelmed by Byron Bay. We had a drink stop here and on the way back we arranged accommodation for the next couple of nights which sounds very nice.

We were going to go to a show called "Stomp" tonight, however with the sunshine and driving we have decided to rest up and watch a DVD instead. Just perfect.

Tomorrow I would like to go for a huge long walk on the beach and maybe even a swim in the sea (between the flags of course) I am also going to go and check out the motorbike rental shop I saw yesterday - maybe a days ride on Friday would be fun. :) ... We'll see.

Thanks for taking time out of your day to follow my blog. Cheers, Nick.

Nick, if Stomp is the UK-based dance and percussion group, you'll love it. We saw them in Auckland and it was one of the best shows we've ever seen
